KELLY BURNS

Vice President at TRI-AIR Systems - Ontario

Co-Chair of Women In HVACR

I always worked for TRI-AIR SYSTEMS. I started when I was a pre-teen, and my dad would take me to work on the back of his motorcycle.  Fast forward, after college I had an opportunity to join the team full time, so I made the jump from Legal Assistant / Paralegal to HVAC.  That was 22 years ago, and the industry was primarily male dominated then.  It has since become less so, but still more women in HVAC are needed.

I have the unique pleasure of working with lots of family members, both male and female.  I have aunts, uncles, cousins, and my sister all in HVAC, some on the tools and some in the office.   I married my high school sweetheart!  He originally went to school to become a millwright, and then tried the HVAC trade and loved it.  He now has his Refrigeration and Air Conditioning license and is a Gas Fitter 1.

We have a 17-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son and live in a small town on Lake Simcoe called Keswick, ON.  Both kids come to work with us, sometimes on the back of our motorcycles, the difference is they go to job sites and crane lifts.  When I was their age I got to file in the office…times are changing! Give the HVAC industry a chance, you will love it!
